About LIMEN

The ethics of not watching: why honest reflection needs restraint

Honest reflection is impossible if you fear being watched, profiled or sold. LIMEN is built on four boundaries — sanctuary, ephemerality, sovereignty and respect — so that what you notice about your relationships stays yours. European privacy and AI law sets the floor for these choices; the reason for them is you.

A thought you cannot afford to have overheard

The sentences that matter most in self-discovery are rarely polished. "I feel invisible in this connection." "I dread the next conversation at work." You only write them down if you trust the room you are writing in.

Many wellness apps treat that vulnerability as data: something to segment, advertise against, or keep you returning to. Reflection in that setting quietly becomes performance. You start writing for the watcher instead of for yourself.

The four boundaries LIMEN is built on

Sanctuary

No advertising or analytics tags run inside the logged-in app. What you notice about your connections is never packaged into an audience.

Ephemerality

When an optional AI reading is generated, we do not keep what was sent or the response on our servers. The reading stays in your browser, on your device, until you clear your browser data.

Sovereignty

AI reflections run only with your explicit, separate consent for each module — never bundled, never assumed. You can withdraw it at any time.

Respect

LIMEN reflects the space between, never the other human being. You track the energy of a relationship and your own response within it — no one is rated, graded or labelled.

We remove names before meaning is read

When you choose an AI reading, Circle names are replaced and no name or email address is sent. What leaves your device is drawn from your entries — feelings, qualities, trends and tags — not your notes or the sentences you typed. The model sees the shape of a relationship, never who it is with.

A quiet room, not an attention trap

LIMEN Energy runs in your browser. It sends no push notifications, shows no red badges, and keeps no streaks designed to make you feel guilty for a quiet week. You open it when you need clarity, not because something summoned you.

Because you pay for LIMEN, your relationships are never our product. The business works only if the reflection is worth it to you.

European law as the floor, not the ceiling

The GDPR and the EU AI Act are often described as red tape. We read them differently: as the world's most serious attempt to protect human dignity in technology. LIMEN follows them by design — and then asks a harder question than "is this allowed?": "would this make someone less able to be honest with themselves?"

The requirementWhat it means in LIMEN
Data minimisation (GDPR)We collect as little as the reflection needs. Not gathering data is the strongest protection.
Explicit consent for sensitive dataAI reflections start only after you say yes, separately, for each module.
Transparency (EU AI Act)We say plainly what is sent to the model, what is not, and where the reading is kept.
Right to withdrawSwitching consent off locks that reflection. Your other entries stay untouched.
From legal requirement to what it means for you.
